Puntland Armed Forces Court Sentences 6 Al-Shabaab Members in Bosaso


The military court of the Puntland regional administration in Somalia has handed down prison sentences to six members of the Al-Shabaab group for their involvement in passing explosives to the group . The sentencing took place in Bosaso, the capital of the Bari region.

Four of the convicted individuals, namely Abdirisaq Mohamed Shire, Syed Farah Abdiqadir, Farhan Weirah Likhad, and Abdiqani Ali Farah, received 10-year military prison terms for their role in facilitating the transfer of explosives to Al-Shabaab. Additionally, Rahmo Weydow Abdi and Shamso Ali Isaaq were sentenced to five years in prison for collaborating with the convicted men.

The court presented compelling evidence demonstrating the guilt of the defendants, with most of them confessing to the charges against them. This sentencing reflects Puntland’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and hold individuals accountable for their involvement in extremist activities.

In the past, Puntland has taken decisive action against members of groups such as Al-Shabaab and ISIS who have surrendered to its forces.

Despite challenges, Puntland remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing the threat of terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
